The Houston Astros have added an infielder before the Major League Baseball trade deadline.

Houston acquired infielder Ramón Urías and cash considerations from the Baltimore Orioles in exchange for minor league relief pitcher Twine Palmer. Astros General Manager Dana Brown made the announcement official on Thursday morning.

The 31-year-old Urías has hit .248 with 12 doubles, eight homers, and 34 RBI in 77 games with the Orioles this season. Urias played primarily third base in 2025, making 66 starts at the position.

In 2022, Urías received the American League Gold Glove at third base.

Urías has played in parts of six Major League seasons (2020-25), all with Baltimore, appearing in 506 Major League games, while posting a .259 career average and a .728 career OPS.

He has experience at all four infield positions, making starts at third base (305), second base (66), shortstop (44), and first base (8). The right-handed hitter is a native of Mexico and is the brother of Athletics infielder Luis Urías.

Palmer, 20, has pitched his entire season at Class A Fayetteville, posting a 2.13 ERA (10ER/42.1IP) in 13 games (eight starts). He was the Astros’ 19th-round pick out of Connors State Junior College in Oklahoma in the 2024 MLB Draft.
