The Houston Astros (8-12) fell to the Colorado Rockies (7-12) 3-2 on Thursday night inside Daikin Park. With the loss, Houston’s home winning streak comes to a close.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
After winning the first two of the series, Houston was going for the sweep in this one. Ryan Weiss got the ball, as the Astros’ pitching staff is still dealing with a number of injuries. Weiss navigated a scoreless first frame.
The Astros offense once again got to work in the first inning. Juan Mejia started, but he gave way to Chase Dollander in the first, who would go more than five innings. This time, Yordan Alvarez continued his hit stretch and delivered an RBI and Joey Loperfido followed suit. Houston held a 2-0 lead after an inning.
The Rockies got a run in the third on a double play ball. Then, Hunter Goodman homered in the fourth to tie the game at two. Tyler Freeman would then deliver an RBI single in the fifth to give Colorado their first lead of the night at 3-2.
The game would stay 3-2 into the late innings. Victor Vodnik came on for the save attempt for the Rockies. Isaac Paredes lifted a would-be walk-off home run to left with two outs and a runner on, but it fell short and was caught to secure a Rockies’ win.
