When the 2020 regular-season schedule was unveiled for Major League Baseball, the biggest surprise was the start date of March 26th. This is the earliest date for the start of the baseball season. When it comes to the Houston Astros, they will open up the season inside the friendly confines of Minute Maid Park.
The season will open up for the Astros against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on March 26th as they begin a four-game series. This will be the first time Houston opens up the season against the Angels.
The schedule will also feature some matchups against NL East opponents for the first time since the 2017 season including the New York Mets at Minute Maid Park for a two-game series, April 7–8, and the Philadelphia Phillies for a three-game set, July 7–9. It will mark Philadelphia’s first visit to Houston since 2012.
The Lone Star Series will resume on June 9–11. The Rangers will return to Minute Maid Park for two more three-game sets, June 26–28 and August 21–23.
Other highlights to the 2020 schedule include weekend series visits from the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox. The Bronx Bombers will be in Houston for a three-game weekend series, May 15–17, while the Red Sox are scheduled to visit Minute Maid Park the weekend of May 29–31.
