Justin Verlander looked out of sorts on Tuesday night in Arlington, not being able to get out of the fifth inning and that resulted in a 6-4 loss for the Houston Astros (2-4) to the Texas Rangers (3-2)
How It Happened:
Michael Brantley wasted little time getting the Astros on the board with a ground out to Ronald Guzman getting George Springer home safely in the top of the first. George Springer made it 2-0 with a sac fly, but Asdrubal Cabrera tied things up in the bottom of the second with a two-run shot out to right field.
Tony Kemp gave Houston a 3-2 lead in the fifth with a ground out to Rougned Odor that got Yuli Gurriel to home plate. However, Elvis Andrus and Nomar Mazara got the Rangers out in front off of a pair of line drive RBI singles.
Carlos Correa tied things up at four runs apiece in the sixth with an RBI double out to right field, but Gallo came up clutch in the seventh with a two-run single to right field to put them back out in front.
Big Number: 11
Leaving 11 stranded in this kind of ballgame was huge for the Astros and a big reason why Texas was able to even up the series.
Player of the Game: Joey Gallo
Gallo may have only gotten one hit, but that was all that the designated hitter for the Rangers needed to give them the 6-4 win.
