After leaving in the first inning of Friday’s game against the Texas Rangers, Jose Altuve is headed to the 10-day injured list with a strained left hamstring.
AJ Hinch announced the move on Saturday night after the Astros rolled to an 11-4 win over their in-state foe. Altuve, who has been sluggish to start the 2019 campaign, is frustrated about the injury. Aledmys Diaz will get more time at second base and it is already paying off with a grand slam in Saturday’s win being the big highlight.
Hinch also mentioned after Saturday’s win that Collin McHugh is now headed to the bullpen and prospect Corbin Martin will fill out the team’s 25-man roster. Martin was 1-1 in five appearances with a 1.48 ERA with the Astros Triple-A affilliate Round Rock Express.
