The league announced on Monday that Hosana Kitenge was named to the All-Sun Belt Conference Preseason First Team. Last season, Kitenge earned All-SBC Third Team honors. The league also announced its preseason poll on Monday, which had the Ragin’ Cajuns fourth.

Kitenge was second on the team last season in scoring and rebounding during conference play at 13.7 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. He recorded five double-doubles including a huge 23-point, 17-rebound performance at App State. Once the calendar flipped to 2024, Kitenge scored in double figures in all but one game and grabbed at least five rebounds in all but one game.

Tragic news also popped up for Kitenge on Monday as Kevin Foote, host of Footenotes and the Acadiana Advocate broke the news that Kitenge will miss the 2024-2025 season with a foot injury.

Originally from England, Kitenge moved from Coastal Carolina to Lafayette last season. In his first year with the Cajuns, the 6’8″ senior averaged 11.9 points, 6.5 rebounds, and .9 blocks in 32 games. Louisiana finished the season with a 19-14 record.

The Cajuns men’s basketball team will begin their 2024-2025 season at home as they host the Kent State Golden Flashes. Tipoff inside the Cajundome will be on Monday, November 4th, time is TBD.
