The outcome wasn’t pretty, but it was what the Cajuns wanted on Friday afternoon as they took down Texas State 4-2.
The Bobcats struck first with an RBI single to left field with an RBI double from Nick Perez in the bottom of the third. The Bobcats extended their lead in the bottom of the fifth with an RBI from Jonathan Ortega to make it 2-0.
But the Cajuns weren’t about to go away quietly as they finally got on the board off a throwing error in the top of the eighth by the pitcher that allowed Hunter Kasuls to scamper to home plate. Later in the inning, Stefan Trosclair got another run across with a squeeze bunt that allowed Brian Mills to score to tie things up. The Cajuns would take the lead with a sac bunt from Brenn Conrad to score Joe Robbins.
The Cajuns would get an insurance run in the top of the ninth with Nick Thurman scoring off of a wild pitch.
Nick Lee improved to 7-1 on the year allowing two runs off of five hits, walked one, and struck out three batters in seven innings. Dylan Moore got his 12th save of the year allowing one hit, walked one, and struck out two in two shutout innings.
The Cajuns will now advance to the semifnals of the tournament to take on the winner of Arkansas State and Texas State.
