The Louisiana Ragin Cajuns (41-6, 22-1 Sun Belt) already clinched the regular season title outright last weekend.
However, the final series of the season didn’t need to be about clinching a series as they traveled up to take on in-state rival UL Monroe (29-25, 11-13 Sun Belt) and this team wants to continue to solidify their path towards Oklahoma City.
The Warhawks gave the Cajuns a run for their money in the second game, but the end result was another doubleheader sweep on Saturday afternoon.
The first game saw the Cajuns get on the board first with a pair of runs in the third highlighted by an RBI single from Kara Gremillion.
The fifth inning saw Gremillion get another RBI single to make it 3-0. DJ Sanders put the final nail with a solo shot to left center field later in the inning to take the first of two games by the score of 4-0.
Game two saw the Cajuns strike early and often with Aleah Craighton hitting an RBI single followed by two more runs after a dropped fly deep in left field made it 3-0 after one complete.
Haley Hayden made it 5-0 in the third when she sent one over the fence. UL Monroe finally got on the board in the bottom of the fourth after a sac fly.
The Warhawks tried to get a rally going in the fifth with a two-run double from Mount cut the Cajuns lead to 6-3. Two more runs came across in the sixth, but they went down in order in the seventh to give the Cajuns their 37th straight series win in Sun Belt play.
The Cajuns will look to complete the sweep on Sunday with first pitch set for 12 pm.
