Cajuns Win In Extra Innings In the Friday Nightcap

Posted by clintdomingue on May 20, 2016 in Featured, Latest News

Cajuns

The Ragin Cajuns needed one of their clutch hitters in the bottom of the ninth on Friday night to keep their hopes of a share of the Sun Belt Conference Regular Season title. They got that from one of their veterans to take down UL Monroe (20-34, 10-19 SBC).

The Cajuns got on the board when Hunter Kasuls hit a solo shot to right field in the bottom of the first to make it 1-0.

Josh Faciane tied things up in the top of the second with a solo shot to left field. Later in the inning, Dalton Todd gave the Warhawks the lead off of a wild pitch. But the Cajuns tied it right back up in the bottom half of the inning when Kennon Fontenot scored off of a wild pitch.

The Warhawks got the lead back in the top of the fourth with a pair of runs, highlighted by Cade Stone’s double down the left field line that allowed Faciane to reach home.

The Cajuns started to rally in the bottom of the fifth when Stefan Trosclair hit a triple to left center to score Joe Robbins. Later in the inning Trosclair scored off of a wild pitch to tie things up.

The Cajuns took the lead in the bottom of the seventh when Brenn Conrad hit a single to left field that allowed Robbins to score.

The Warhawks tied it up once again when Jacob Stockton hit a double down the left field line that allowed Anthony Herrera to reach home safely.

The game would go to the eleventh inning and Trosclair got the walkoff with a double to left center field that scored Kasuls.

Jevin Huval improved to 2-1 on the year allowing only two hits and striking out three batters in two innings of work.

The Cajuns (36-19, 20-9 SBC) will try to complete the sweep on Saturday with first pitch set for 3 pm.
