It should come as no surprise that DJ Sanders would earn Sun Belt Conference Player of the week honors. In a four game week, the junior had 14 RBIs and three grand slams, two of which were on Friday against Texas State.
With her week, she tied the national record with six grand slams which was last reached by former Louisiana Ragin Cajun Christi Orgeron in 2012.
However, she wasn’t the only one to earn honors as Alyssa Denham earned Sun Belt Pitcher of the Week honors after working 17 innings last week. During her three appearances, the freshman struck out ten, allowed only three runs and seven hits.
This is the third time that Sanders recieved the weekly honor and Denham’s second of the season.
The Cajuns will hit the road to College Station to take on Texas A&M on Wednesday with first pitch set for 6:30 pm.
