HOUSTON, TX – Mauricio Dubón (utility) and Cam Smith (right field) have been named finalists for the 2025 Rawlings Gold Glove Awards at their respective positions.
Rawlings announced three finalists for each position from the American and National Leagues. The winners will be announced at 7:30 p.m. CT. on Sunday, Nov. 2 on ESPN.
Dubón is seeking his second Gold Glove Award at the utility spot. The 31-year-old was outstanding as one of the most versatile defenders in the Majors. He made starts at second base (37), shortstop (24), third base (15), left field (15), center field (10), right field (2) and first base (1). He ranked third among AL players in Outs Above Average with 19, behind only KC SS Bobby Witt Jr. (25) and BOS CF Ceddanne Rafaela (22). Dubón is the first player in Astros history to start at seven different positions in consecutive seasons. In 2023, he was also the first player in franchise history to win a Gold Glove Award at the utility spot, which was added as a Gold Glove position that season.
Smith, who is a Gold Glove Award finalist for the first time in his career, put together a phenomenal campaign in right field. The rookie outfielder ranked first in zone rating (.900), second in fielding percentage (.992) and tied for third in assists (6) among AL right fielders in 2025. He transitioned to right field during Spring Training after playing third base in college with Florida State. Smith would become the fourth outfielder in Astros franchise history to win a Gold Glove Award, joining Kyle Tucker (2022), Michael Bourn (2009-10) and César Cedeño (1972-76).
