Eli Mouton Transferring From Cajuns Basketball Program

Posted by benlove on June 18, 2019 in Blogs

Eric Mouton dropped some news on Bumper to Bumper Sports with Ben Love when he joined the program on Tuesday. The Ascension Episcopal Blue Gators basketball head coach talked about a bevy of topics, including his son Eli Mouton.

Eli, who followed in his father’s footsteps and joined the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns basketball program as a walk-on, will be transferring over to LSU-Eunice to play for Byron Starks’ program according to his father. Mouton appeared in only five games his freshman season, averaging 0.2 points and an assist per game after being a three-year starter for the Blue Gators.

Starks was previously the head coach at Lafayette Christian Academy which played in 7-1A, the same district as Ascension Episcopal. The Bengals opened up their inaugural season as a program with a 14-15 record.

Eli may be leaving the program, but according to Eric Mouton, he is not leaving on a sour note and handled the situation the right way.

Listen to the full interview for a lot of great insight from one of the premier high school coaches in the Acadiana area.
