It was a big day for the Houston Astros on Sunday after completing the series sweep over the Chicago White Sox, winning 2-1. But before the ballgame, manager A.J. Hinch told his players that five players will accompany him to Washington D.C. for the All-Star Game.
Former LSU Tiger Alex Bregman will join Jose Altuve, Gerrit Cole, Justin Verlander, and George Springer to be a part of the midsummer classic. However, Altuve was voted in as the only starter, racking up the most votes in all of Major League Baseball.
This will be Altuve’s sixth appearance and will start his fourth consecutive All-Star game, which matches Hall of Famer Craig Biggio’s four straight for the most in franchise history.
Verlander will not pitch for the American League though as he’s slated to pitch next Sunday before the break.
