Being the American League MVP and helping lead a team to their first World Series has its perks. Just ask Jose Altuve as he has agreed to a five-year $151 million extension.
This is the most money the Houston Astros have committed to a player in franchise history, eclipsing Carlos Lee’s six-year $100 million deal back in 2006.
Prior to the agreement, the All-Star second baseman had two years left on his current deal.
Altuve’s journey was a long one with him getting signed as an amateur free agent back in 2007, becoming the face of the franchise for the last six seasons.
