Louisiana Ragin Cajuns Takes Down UL Monroe

Posted by clintdomingue on February 17, 2019 in Blogs, Latest News

The Louisiana Ragin Cajuns (15-10, 6-6 Sun Belt) had plenty of time to get ready for their Saturday night matchup against in-state rival UL Monroe (13-11, 6-6 Sun Belt) and they made sure to hold serve inside the Cajundome with an 83-76 win over the Warhawks.

How It Happened:

After an early back-and-forth to start the ballgame, the Cajuns were able to push the pace and got out to a nine-point lead thanks to a pair of three pointers by Jerekius Davis. The Warhawks were able to get within two points with 7:15 left in the first half, but a late run gave Louisiana a 37-29 lead headed into the locker room.

The Cajuns remained in control of the ballgame despite the early efforts from UL Monroe in the second half. Louisiana was able to get up by as much as 13 points with 6:17 left in regulation and despite a late rally by UL Monroe it was too little too late.

Big Number: 17

The Cajuns bench has never been their strong point this season, but Saturday night’s performance was more than enough to help them come away with a much-needed conference win. The bench had a solid evening with 17 points, nine of which came from Jerekius Davis and his solid performance from three-point range

Player of the Game: Marcus Stroman

Stroman kept the Cajuns in control for much of the ballgame with 22 points on the evening, four rebounds, and nine assists on the evening.

Next Up: Thursday at UT Arlington; Tipoff at 7 pm
