Texas State Walks Off In Extras, Cajuns Streak Snapped

Posted by clintdomingue on April 15, 2017 in Latest News

Lamson Park

All good things must come to an end. The Louisiana Ragin Cajuns (32-6, 14-1 Sun Belt) learned that the hard way on Saturday afternoon as their 15 game win streak was snapped in extra innings by Texas State (31-10, 12-5 Sun Belt).

Bailee Carter got the Bobcats on the board in the bottom of the second with an RBI single to left center field.

It looked like the Cajuns were having a hard time getting runs across, but they finally got on the board in the fifth with Haley Hayden tying things up with an RBI single through the left side.

The game would remain deadlocked until the bottom of the eighth. With one out and the bases loaded after Ariel Ortiz was walked, Jaelyn Young hit a single straight to Alyssa Denham that scored Carter to hand the Cajuns their first Sun Belt loss of the season.

Denham dropped to 13-2 allowing two runs off of four hits, walked three, and struck out two in seven and a third innings of work.

The Cajuns will return to action with a doubleheader on Saturday when they return to Lamson Park to take on Georgia State (28-16, 13-5 Sun Belt) with game one scheduled to start at 2 pm.
