Craighton Helps Cajuns Advance to Tournament Finals

Posted by clintdomingue on May 12, 2017 in Latest News

Lamson Park

Junior Aleah Craighton continues to have an incredible run during the Sun Belt Conference Tournament. During Thursday’s matchup, she was able to get the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns started and she took that momentum into Friday’s matchup against Texas State and helped the Cajuns advance to the finals with a 5-2 victory over Texas State.

Craighton got the Cajuns on the board in the top of the first with an RBI double. It quickly became 3-0 in the second when Kara Gremillion and DJ Sanders both hit RBI singles into the outfield.

However, the Bobcats were able to get on the board in the bottom of the second with an RBI single of her own to cut the deficit down to two runs.

Craighton closed the door in the fifth when she hit a two-run bomb out to right center field.

Alex Stewart earned her 24th win of the season allowing two runs off three hits, walked two, and struck out seven in her second complete game effort in as many days.

The Cajuns will move on to the tournament finals to take on the winner of Texas State and UT Arlington. First pitch is scheduled for 1 pm.
