Yordan Alvarez is an MLB All-Star yet again.
Major League Baseball announced on Sunday that Alvarez has been voted by the fans as the starting designated hitter for the American League All-Star squad. This year’s Midsummer Classic is scheduled for July 14 at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.
This marks the fourth All-Star selection for the Astros superstar slugger and the second time that he has been voted as a starter. The previous time was in 2024, and his other two All-Star selections were in 2022 and 2023.
The Astros have had 38 All-Star selections since 2017, which is the most in the AL in that span.
Alvarez has had an MVP-caliber season thus far in 2026, leading MLB and the AL in multiple categories.
He entered Sunday’s game leading MLB in OPS (1.055), slugging pct. (.625) on-base-pct. (.431) and total bases (198). Additionally, Alvarez leads the AL in home runs (27) while ranking second in RBI (61), batting average (.319), and runs scored (60).
Alvarez has already earned AL Player of the Month honors for May, during which he hit .356 with 12 home runs and 27 RBI while posting a 1.199 OPS. On June 30 vs. Minnesota, he hit his third career grand slam of the season and the seventh of his career, matching franchise records in both categories.
