About a week after Alex Bregman mentioned that he was frustrated with the amount of money he was going to get for the 2019 season from the Houston Astros. It’s safe to say those complaints were heard and the former LSU Tiger is locked up for the next five seasons.
The Astros and the All-Star third baseman have agreed to a five-year, $100 million contract, as first reported by Mark Berman. It was originally reported as a six-year deal, but was corrected shortly after as lasting for five years.
MLB sources: The #Astros have reached an agreement on a six-year/$100 million contract with All-Star third baseman Alex Bregman that includes this season. Deal covers this year & the 3 years he'd be eligible for arbitration plus the first two years Alex can become a free agent.

This is the second-largest deal in franchise history, only trailing fellow teammate Jose Altuve’s deal he got last year which was for five years and worth $151 million. It’s also the second largest pre-arbitration contract five to a player, right behind Mike Trout’s $144 million deal back in 2014.
