Welcome everyone to another edtiion of #3OT!
1st OT: Simmons Late Struggles Hurt Tigers Chance of Comeback
The Tigers in the second half were much like a dog chasing after a car. Just as they got close, Florida put their foot back on the gas. And that wasn’t made easier with Ben Simmons struggling late in the game. The freshman committed eight turnovers all in the second half. It also seemed that Simmons was getting frustrated with the fact that he was having issues late as he wound up fouling out in the closing minutes of the game. It’s just a sign of a young kid letting his emotion get the best of him.
2nd OT: Final Score Closer Than It Should’ve Been
The Tigers lost by four points and based off of the first half, it shouldn’t have been as close as it was. The saving grace for the Tigers is that the Gators were ice cold from three point range all afternoon. This could’ve been a one-sided affair that made the Tigers look like a joke.
3rd OT: From Pretender to Contender & Back Again
In the matter of one week, the Tigers went from a team that would be lucky to make it into the big dance, to being back in the conversation, to being back to a pretender. No matter what sport, momentum is crucial. And winning those two games against Vanderbilt and Kentucky should have helped the Tigers to build momentum early on in conference play. But LSU went two steps back after going one step forward with the loss to Florida. If the Tigers want to make it to March Madness, the margin for error is pretty much zero at this point. Something needs to change with LSU basketball before it’s too late.
